Benedict's test on two sweet soft drinks. When lemonade, sweetened with sucrose - a sugar - the blue Benedict's solution does not change colour. An energy drink sweetened with artificial sweeteners turns orange and may form a precipitate. With an equal amount of soft drink and Benedict's in a test tube the tubes should be immersed in boiling water for a few minutes. The reaction will then take place. | |
