Barred spiral galaxy NGC 2903, optical image. This galaxy lies around 20.5 million light years from Earth in the constellation of Leo. It has a bright nucleus and several bright starbirth regions in its spiral arms. These glow pink as the hydrogen gas they contain is ionised by radiation from the hot young stars born within them. | |
