Ethylene. Molecular model of the alkene ethylene (C2.H4), also known as ethene. This gaseous organic compound is the simplest alkene and an unsaturated hydrocarbon, with a double bond between the two carbon atoms. Its production worldwide exceeds that of any other chemical, with widespread uses in the chemical industry. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey) and hydrogen (white).
