Chlorpromazine. Molecular model of the anti-psychotic drug chlorpromazine (C17.H19.Cl.N2.S). This was the first drug to be developed with a specific anti-psychotic action, and used to treat psychosis such as schizophrenia. It is a dopamine antagonist, blocking receptors of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue), chlorine (green) and sulphur (yellow). Illustration. | |
