Carfentanil. Molecular model of the pain-killing drug carfentanil (C24.H30.N2.O3). This is an extremely potent analogue of the synthetic opioid analgesic fentanyl. It is 10, 000 times more effective than morphine, and as such is only used in large animals and not humans. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue) and oxygen (red). Illustration. | |
