Bullet-detecting invention. Diagram of the 1881 design by Scottish inventor Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922) of an induction balance to be used to locate a bullet in a human body. The receiver used to listen to sounds as the detector is used is similar to the technology used in early telephones, the invention Bell is more famous for. The receiver here is labelled 'telephone'. This diagram was published in 'Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper' on 20 August 1881. | |
