A Desert Bighorn Lamb rests in the grass. Desert Bighorns live in dry, desert mountain ranges and foothills, near rocky cliffs. This environment is almost waterless and relatively barren of vegetation. In the winter, they range further from their meager water sources to graze on vegetation in full leaf. As summer approaches, they move closer to remaining water supplies and reduce their own water output by resting during the day in caves or under rocky overhangs. The Desert Bighorn Sheep range from California and Nevada to west Texas, and south into Mexico. Taken in Lake Meade National Recreation Area,Arizona. (Ovis Canadensis Nelsoni) | |
