German wire-hair pointer puppies. Two German wire-hair pointer domestic dog puppies,Canis familiaris, playing. The domestic dog usually has a litter of between 3-10 puppies. These nurse for about six weeks, change their teeth after about three months, and become sexually mature after about ten months. German wire-hairs were developed as hunting dogs in Germany,in the late nineteenth century. They have characteristics such as loyalty, alertness and a sound temperament. For these reasons they make excellent companions as pets. Photographed in Massachusetts,USA | |
