White-handed gibbon. White-handed gibbon (Hylobates lar) brachiating. Brachiation is the name given to this swinging mode of locomotion. This gibbon is native to the rainforests of south- eastern Asia. This gibbon is extremely agile,and can make abrupt turns at full speed,stop in an instant and leap up to twelve metres over clearings and rivers. The white-handed gibbon lives in family groups consisting of a male,one or two females and their young. It very rarely eats meat,preferring fruits,flowers and leaves.
