Philippine tarsier. Philippine tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) clinging to a branch. This is a nocturnal animal, and has huge eyes which help it see in the dark. In darkness, their pupils expand to almost the entire width of their eyes, and they descend to the ground to hunt. On the ground, they hop like a frog, powering themselves with their large hind legs. They feed mainly on insects, which they creep up on before catching with a quick leap. They inhabit the forests of the Philippines. These tarsiers reach a length of about 18 centimetres.
