Curled-up hedgehog (family Erinaceidae). This small mammal is covered in thick spines 2-3 centimetres in length. When threatened,it curls into a tight ball due to the constriction of a muscle sheet across its back. It inhabits forests,heathland and scrub throughout northern and central Europe.
