Red kangaroo and joey (Macropus rufus). This kangaroo is the largest of the marsupials. It breeds throughout the year,giving birth to a single infant. The young is nursed in the mother's pouch from 35 days old until the age of eight months. It then leaves the pouch and is known as a joey. The red kangaroo inhabits the grassy plains of Australia.
