American crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) in grassland. This bird inhabits a wide variety of habitats throughout North America. It is highly adaptable and feeds on anything edible it can find. It is gregarious, sometimes forming enormous flocks of thousands of birds, especially in the winter. It is thought that it has a variety of calls that can alert other crows to danger, with some individuals keeping watch as the others feed. The American crow can reach a length of around 50 centimetres. Photographed in the Everglades National Park,Florida,USA | |
