Green jay nest. Clutch of eggs in the nest of a green jay (Cyanocorax yncas). Green jays breed in monogamous pairs and usually build their nest in trees or bushy shrubs in dense thickets. It is constructed from thorny twigs and sticks and usually lined with roots,stems,moss or dry leaves. Green jays lay an average of four eggs,which are incubated by the female for 17 days. The green jay is found in two separate populations,one which inhabits an area from southern Texas in the USA to northern Honduras,and one which inhabits Colombia and Venezuela south to Peru and Bolivia | |
