Wood thrushes. Wood thrush (Hylocichla mustelina) feeding its chicks at its nest. Both parents bring food for the chicks until they are fully fledged after about 12 days. The wood thrush feeds on fruits as well as insects and other invertebrates. It does most of its hunting on the ground,foraging through the soil and leaf litter. It inhabits woodlands throughout eastern North America,from Canada to southern Central America. It is a migrant,spending the winter in the southern parts of this range.
