Yellow warblers. Male (left) and female yellow warblers (Dendroica petechia) by their nest. The open mouths of some of their chicks are seen in the nest. These small birds are found throughout North and Central America and northern South America. They live near water in forests, marshes and scrubland. In winter, birds from the northernmost parts of the range tend to migrate south. They lay between three and six eggs, and both parents tend to the young. Yellow warblers almost exclusively eat insects, although small amounts of fruit may also be taken. They may reach a length of about 13 centimetres | |
