Crested caracara (Polyborus plancus) standing on dead wood. This bird of prey inhabits scrub and grassland in South and southern North America. Unlike other falcons,it spends most of its time on the ground,where it catches and kills amphibians,reptiles,insects and birds with its strong claws. It also takes carrion.
