Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) perched on a branch with a freshly-caught fish in its talons. The osprey lives around coasts, lakes and rivers throughout the world. It is a migrant in much of its range, spending the summer in North America,Eurasia and parts of Africa, and wintering in South America,Asia and southern Africa. It feeds almost exclusively on fish, which it catches from the water with a feet-first dive. The osprey may reach a length of around 50 centimetres, and females are larger than males.
