Mallard duck (Anas platyrhynchos) landing on the surface of a lake. This is a male (drake) mallard. The mallard is an opportunistic bird that inhabits wetlands throughout the northern hemisphere. It has adapted well to urban life,and is found on water in cities and towns as well as in the country. It mainly feeds on insects,worms,leaves and seeds.
