Great frigatebirds. Male great frigatebird (Fregata minor, centre) displaying to a female (left). The male has inflated his large red throat sack for display purposes. Great frigatebirds are large seabirds which live around the coasts and oceans of the southern hemisphere. They are known for their feeding methods, which often include chasing other seabirds and forcing them to regurgitate a recent meal,or to drop a new catch. They also catch their own fish by swooping down when the fish are near the surface. Breeding pairs make untidy nests of twigs in bushes and low trees on oceanic islands with inaccessible coasts.
