The Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis) is found in New Guinea and part of Australia. It is the sole member of the genus Morelia. The vivid green coloring, flecked with blue, white and yellow, provides excellent camouflage in its arboreal habitat. These snakes feed on lizards, birds and other arboreal vertebrates. These snakes provide an excellent example of parallel evolution. Their appearance and behavior is very similar to the Emerald Tree Boa found in South America | |
