Dendropsophus rhodopeplus, the red-skirted tree frog,is an inhabitant of the wet forests of the upper Amazon basin. Strongly nocturnal, these fragile hylid frogs never grow larger than an inch or so. This is a newly metamorphosed frog, only two days out of the water. It was photographed atop a delicate fern frond at the CICRA biological research centre,Madre De Dios,Peru during a night hike | |
