Golden toads (Bufo periglenes) mating. The golden or Monteverde toad has a restricted range in the Cordillera de Tilaran mountains in northern Costa Rica. This habitat is protected as the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve. Here,a male toad (orange) is seen in amplexus (mating embrace) with a female (black,yellow and orange blotches).
