Yellow-banded poison frog (Dendrobates leucomelas). This diurnal frog inhabits moist and wet, forested lowlands of northern South America including Guyana,Venezuela and Colombia. Its bright colours may warn predators of the toxin that is secreted from glands located in its skin. The toxin may be derived from ants, which constitute much of the frog's diet.
