Green frog. Head of a green frog (Rana clamitans melanota) emerging from duckweed in a pond. This is a common frog throughout its range in the western and northern USA and south-western Canada. It prefers marshes,lakes and slow-moving rivers. It hunts near to the shore,looking for spiders,insects,slugs and snails. Crayfish are also taken on occasion.
