Short-head seahorse (Hippocampus breviceps) giving birth to live young. It is the male seahorse that carries the young around, rearing them in a brood pouch on his belly. This seahorse inhabits the temperate and subtropical waters of the Indo- Pacific region, most commonly around south- western Australia. It reaches around ten centimetres in height. It spends most of its time clinging to weeds with its prehensile tail, and feeds by sucking tiny animals from the water | |
