Galapagos shark (Carcharhinus galapagensis). This shark, despite its name,is found throughout the tropical waters of the world. It prefers waters around oceanic islands, although it has been known to swim great distances in the open ocean between such islands. It feeds on bottom-dwelling fish and squid and octopus, and in the Galapagos archipelago it has been known to take marine iguanas and sea lions. It has a reputation as an aggressive shark, and may reach nearly four metres in length | |
