Ornate octopus (Octopus sp.) on the seabed. Its eyes (one seen) are on the stalk at upper centre, with the bulk of its body below and to the right. This octopus inhabits the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It is mainly nocturnal, hiding by day in a crevice in coral or rocks, and emerging at night to hunt crabs and small fish. Its eight arms are lined with suckers, which give it a firm hold on its prey. It can change its colour rapidly, which it uses to hide itself from predators.
