A species of Amazonian land planarian. Planarians are types of flatworms. Most planaria are aquatic but numerous brightly coloured species can be found in the Amazon rainforest. Most have not been described and their biology is largely unknown. Most appear to reach a length of 6 to 8 inches when fully extended. At least several are predators of small land snails and lay a leathery egg case from which hatches relatively few young. Photographed at Madre Selva Preserve,Peruvian Amazonia | |
