International Space Station (ISS) modules. Modules for the International Space Station being built. A habitation module & the American laboratory are shown at upper left and lower right respectively. The living quarters are where astronauts aboard the space station will eat and sleep. This module is due to be launched to the ISS in February 2002. The American laboratory will be used to study the effects of minute levels of gravity (microgravity) on materials and biological tissue. This module is due to be launched in November 1998. The ISS should commence operation with a crew of six at an altitude of 347-457 kilometres in June 2002 | |
