Vega (Alpha Lyrae). This is the alpha star of the Lyra (Lyre) constellation. Vega is also known as the Harp Star. It is the fifth brightest star in the night sky,and is seen near the zenith. Around 10,000 BC,Vega was the north pole star,and will be so again in 14,500 AD. It is 58 times brighter than the Sun and is 3 times more massive. Vega is around 25 light years from Earth | |
