Virgo. Artwork of the zodiacal constellation Virgo, representing a virgin. The stars (white dots) are linked by purple lines which trace the shape of the constellation. The zodiac is the band in the sky through which the Sun appears to move. The Sun is in Virgo roughly between the 23 August and 22 September each year. The constellation is large yet diffuse, and is visible in Spring for Northern Hemisphere observers. Its one bright star is Spica (at the virgin's waist),the 16th brightest in the sky.
