Aries. Artwork of the zodiacal constellation Aries, representing a ram. The main stars are linked by purple lines to show the shape of the constellation. The zodiac is the band in the sky through which the Sun appears to move. The Sun is in Aries roughly between the 21 March and 19 April each year. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac: in ancient times, when the zodiac was formulated, the Sun's path cut the celestial equator in this constellation. The point has since moved into Pisces, out of frame to the right. Despite its important position,Aries is a small and inconspicuous constellation with no bright stars. North is at top left | |
