| MODEL RELEASED. Cystic fibrosis. A cystic fibrosis (CF) patient receives percussive therapy to help loosen mucus in the lungs. A nurse is holding an electric device on the patient's back. This emits vibrations that will help the patient to cough up mucus. On the table in front of the patient is a peak flow meter,a device that measures how hard the patient can exhale. A second nurse is holding an inhaler,used to deliver drugs directly into the lungs. CF is a hereditary disease that causes a sticky mucus to build up in the lung's airways,causing persistent respiratory infections. Gene therapy is currently under development | |
