MODEL RELEASED. Demonstration of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer, showing a woman receiving an intravenous infusion of anti-cancer drugs. Cancer chemotherapy, the treatment of cancer with drugs, attempts to destroy tumours through damaging DNA & interfering with cell replication. However, these drugs tend to act on all rapidly dividing cells (for example,in bone marrow) - not just tumour cells, and many have unpleasant & debilitating side effects. Specific chemotherapy for ovarian cancers involves the alkylating agents Chlorambucil & Treosulfan and the platinum- based drugs Carboplatin & Cisplatin. This is not a real patient but a model | |
