Siamese twins. Adult unseparated siamese twins joined at the abdomen. Siamese twins are identical twins who are physically joined together at birth, usually along the body,or sometimes at the head. The twins may be connected only by skin and superficial tissues,or they may share internal organs. As with identical twins, siamese twins result from the fertilization of a single egg cell. Normally the egg cell divides to give rise to two separate foetuses, but in the case of siamese twins the division is incomplete | |
