This composite of 2 MRI image of the brain in a person who previously underwent lumbar puncture (spinal tap) shows findings of benign intracranial hypotension. This is felt to be the result of a CSF leak which does not heal with time, resulting in decreased volume of cerebral spinal fluid. This causes severe, prolonged headaches. The findings include thickening and enhancement of the dura,a sagging appearance to the intracranial contents which are under low pressure, and soft tissue fullnes in the region of the foramen magnum due to sagging of the posterior fossa contents into th is region | |
