Fungal skin infection. Lesion on the back of a patient's hand caused by blastomycosis,a fungal infection. Blastomycosis results from infection with Blastomyces dermatitidis fungus. It usually affects the lungs after inhalation of fungal spores,but may become disseminated to the skin,or,in extreme cases to the bones,liver,spleen or central nervous system.
