Casimir Funk. American biochemist born in Warsaw,Poland,and credited with discovering vitamins. Funk stirred public interest with his 1912 paper on vitamin-deficiency diseases where he coined the term ''vitamine'' and later posited the existence of four such materials (B1,B2,C and D).
