This portrait of Benjamin Franklin was painted by Jean B. Greuze in 1777 from the National Gallery of Art,Washington D. C. Franklin was an experimental scientist and statesman. He helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776,and acted as an international diplomat. Through experimentation,Franklin proved the distinction between positive and negative charges,and showed that lightning is a form of electricity.
