Harold Edgerton. Portrait of Harold Eugene Edgerton (1903-1990),American electrical engineer and high-speed photographer. Born in Fremont,Nebraska,he became a faculty member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In about 1931 he developed the high-speed electronic stroboscope. He used it to develop techniques of high-speed photography,using it to capture the action of such things as drops of milk falling into a saucer and bullets travelling at up to 24,000 kilometres per hour.
