Rainfall. View of rain pouring from building cumulus clouds. The shower can be seen (lower centre) as a light grey sheet of rain emerging from blue-grey cumulus clouds. The Sun is illuminating the rain as it falls. Rain is the precipitation of small drops of water. Air masses acquire moisture as they pass over bodies of water or wet land masses. The moisture is carried upwards by turbulence and convection. Rainfall results from the cooling and condensation of this moisture by winds or by being forced to rise over land masses. Cumulus clouds are common,low-level clouds. Photographed over the Serengeti plains,Kenya | |
