Snowflake specimen with broad branches and fairly symmetrical outline. The crystal was bombarded by a few super-cooled water droplets that froze on impact, commonly referred to as rime when the concentration is higher. This crystal measures only 1.4mm across, and if printed to 10cm wide would result in a magnification factor of 67x. Photographed on a black woollen background, this image is a composite of multiple frames at different focus points to give detail to all areas of the crystal | |
