This snowflake contains colour in the branches, partially due refraction in the prism structure of the crystal. The broad branches and slower growth fill in the shape, resulting in a denser-looking crystal. This specimen measures 5.5mm in diameter, and if the image was reproduced at 10cm wide, the magnification factor would be roughly 17x. Image is a composite of multiple frames to increase the depth of field across the entire crystal. Photographed on a black woollen fabric | |
