Exploding Soda Can. If a can of soda is shaken, the carbon dioxide gas, which is normally at the top,is mixed through the soda. After shaking the soda some of the gas returns to the top of the container, and some of it sticks to the sides of the can. The bubbles then expand very quickly and try to force their way up and out of the bottle. To do this, they must push through the soda to the top and in doing so they force soda out of the can in an explosion | |
