Benjamin Samuel Williams (March 2,1822 - June 24,1890) was an English orchidologist and nurseryman in London,known mainly for his horticultural notes on orchids in publications such as The Orchid Grower's Manual (London 1871),Select Orchidaceous Plants (London 1862 onwards) and The Orchid Album (London 1882-97). Dendrobium is a huge genus of orchids. It was established by Olof Swartz in 1799 and today contains about 1,200 species. The name is from the Greek dendron (tree) and bios (life); it means one who lives on trees ,or,essentially,epiphyte.
