Benjamin Samuel Williams (March 2,1822 - June 24,1890) was an English orchidologist and nurseryman in London,known mainly for his horticultural notes on orchids in publications such as The Orchid Grower's Manual (London 1871),Select Orchidaceous Plants (London 1862 onwards) and The Orchid Album (London 1882-97). Odontoglossum is a genus of about 100 orchids. The scientific name is derived from the Greek words odon (tooth) and glossa (tongue),referring to the two tooth-like calluses on the base of the lip. Orchidaceae is a diverse and widespread family of flowering plants with blooms that are often Colourful and often fragrant,commonly known as the orchid family.
