This sagital (from the side),T2 weighted MR image demonstrates a low T2 signal mass (red arrow) involving the nasal septum and the sphenoid sinus. Inverted papillomas usually occur on the lateral nasal wall or middle meatus and may extend into paranasal sinuses. They may contain HPV 6 or 1,possibly with EBV. These are benign epithelial tumours that grow outward in finger like projections. About 10% of these tumours are associated with coexistent squamous cell carcinoma. They are locally invasive | |
