This colour enhanced axial (cross sectional) T2-weighted MR image of the head in a newborn shows extensive intracranial injury secondary to severe birth related injury. There is a large subdural hematoma (dark blue with smaller amount of gold) along the right cerebral hemisphere (on viewers left) causing herniation of brain across the midline which is compressing the brainstem.
