This lateral (from the side) image from an angiogram of the brains blood vessels in the capillary phase shows the typical appearance of a high flow arterial venous malformation (AVM). Contrast density within the large nidus (complex collection of abnormal blood vessels) is beginning to fade and the early appearance of multiple draining veins with venous congestion is seen. Both superficial and deep venous drainage is seen. These are dangerous malformations of blood vessels that can lead to bleeding,stroke,seizures,headache and even death
